Volunteer Health & Safety Adviser

We are looking for a volunteer to support the charity in maintaining a safe environment for staff, other volunteers, service users, and the public by providing practical health and safety advice in line with UK legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Key responsibilities:
- Advise the charity on health and safety matters
- Develop and review health and safety policies and procedures
- Support the completion and review of risk assessments for activities, premises and events
- Provide guidance on safe working practices for staff and volunteers
- Help ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidance
- Recommend improvements to reduce risks and promote a positive safety culture
- Support basic health and safety training or awareness sessions if required

Skills
Essential skills:
- Working knowledge of UK health and safety principles
- Experience in a health and safety role
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide practical advice
- Relevant qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH Certificate)
Desirable skills:
- Experience working with charities or voluntary organisations
